Let’s visit Australia

back to articles

Australia is making the news currently and rightly so. People are heading over in their droves to catch the sun, sea and climate. If you're thinking of travelling to Australia for a break we have put together a quick insight into the things you might need to know.

The Australian lifestyle has long been associated with the outdoors, health and fitness. Physical and mental wellness is so well complemented by the environment and the warm weather, which provides many opportunities for people to relax, unwind, stay fit and above all travel. It’s really great but is it too good to be true?

The Price:

If you're like me and prefer to eat healthily then you naturally gravitate towards good quality foods. If we take a look at organic food in the UK for example, in general (accounting for the exchange rate), it is usually a little more expensive to buy. In Australia, however, you're paying about 100% more for organic produce! So be prepared to pay a whole lot more for good quality foods. When I arrived in the UK I was so excited to see that good quality organic food was available at an affordable price. As well as having a greater abundance, there are more supermarkets and health food stores providing affordable, quality foods.

This doesn't only apply to food either; health spas, retreats, yoga classes and gyms are a lot more expensive respectively, so be aware that you'll be needing to account for that in your travel budget. The fact is; Australia cannot compare to the UK in relation to the abundance of organic food options, and to top it all off, it's more expensive to buy in Australia, so keep this in mind when travelling!

The Weather:

Ah, the sun... Yes, Australia is renowned for its beaches, year-round sunshine and tropical climate. But don't be fooled, there are things you need to know to keep your skin healthy. Australia's climate can be fickle at times; one-minute the air will be humid and you'll be sweating profusely, next it'll be dry and arid, causing your skin to turn red. Simple steps to alleviate these annoyances and keep your skin healthy are to make sure you keep hydrated for humid days, and use light moisturizers and 30+ SPF sunscreens for dry days. Drinking adequate water and electrolyte based drinks are a must in Australia, as the environment is notorious for sapping your body of energy through the hot, humid days. On dry days, moisturizers are great for keeping your skin hydrated and smooth, while high SPF sunscreens keep the harmful ultraviolet rays from burning your skin. These in tandem will really keep your skin clean and clear while still enjoying the wonders of Australia!

And finally, the Insects:

Now these are the ones to watch; the insects! Australia has the perfect climate for people to relax and unwind, but the last thing you'll want is for everything to be disturbed by pesky insects. So how do we deal with these little critters in a safe and natural way? The best way to get rid of troublesome insects is by using essential oils. Get in touch with our gurus here at lifetrainme or ask in our online chat to get more information about using essential oils. They support body function, are drug free and do a great job at keeping you free from irritation.

In summary, Australia is a wonderful place to visit and travel to for a much deserved relaxing time, even if it is on the other side of the world! Knowing what you'll need and how much things are going to cost is really beneficial to enable everyone to have an amazing time. So, if you’re planning to make the trip, be sure to have an awesome time and let us know how you’re getting on. We’d love to see you pictures.
