Nourishing Breakfast Bowls

back to articles

At lifetrainme we are all about eating healthily, even when time is short and it seems like there is loads on the to-do list. I like to keep a few recipes to hand which help everyone keep on the right track and there's nothing better than some healing, soothing fruit for breakfast.

Fruit is tasty and delicious and you can always have it to hand. Smoothies are quick and easy to make. Fruit is a naturally tasty food which needs no condiments to make it palatable. Fruit is also rich in vitamins and is alkaline forming.  The following recipe is balanced by using a small handful of spinach because green leaf vegetables are abundant in minerals; you can skip the spinach if you wish, but I promise you won't even know it's in there and there are many benefits to be had by including it. Plus the green colour it creates is beautiful.

Smoothie Bowl Recipe

1 papaya

1 banana

1 apple/pear

1 nectarine/peach/plum/apricot

Juice of 1 lemon

Method

Peel and chop the papaya, banana, apple and nectarine and place in a blender. Add a little water if necessary and  blitz until smooth.  Add a handful of spinach and the lemon juice and blitz again until the leaves are broken down.

Pour into a bowl and garnish as desired. I used sliced nectarines. They are in season as I write and are super tasty.

I also put some more chopped papaya on top along with some frozen blackberries , goldenberries and a good tablespoon of bee pollen.

Use what you have and experiment with your favourite fruits. You'll soon find your favourite combination and you'll be making these bowls in no time.
